Call for abstracts

The Canadian Medical Association, the American Medical Association and the British Medical Association are proud to present the International Conference on Physician Health (ICPH), taking place October 17-19, 2024, in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Doctors are people, too. This conference focuses on practice steps to make medicine a more sustainable career choice. ICPH promotes an overall healthier culture for physicians by offering practical evidence-based solutions, practice skills, resources, and tools for attendees to take back to their workplace and readily implement.

Submission deadline: Now extended to April 26, 2024

We are pleased to announce the call for abstracts for ICPH 2024.

Although submissions dealing with any aspect of learner and/or physician health and wellness are welcome, we are particularly interested in submissions that focus on this year’s conference theme:

Improving well-being through the power of connections

Please keep this theme in mind when preparing your abstract and presentation.

In addition to this conference theme, we are also interested in submissions that consider one or more of the following sub-themes:

  • Systems connections: Examples of this include research and initiatives focused on improving physician mobility, communication between health system technology and/or procedures.

  • Human connections: Examples include development and/or delivery of health and wellness programs and support services, treatment strategies, and innovative wellness solutions, peer support programs or information sharing.

  • Procedures and operations: Examples include implementation of physical, psychological, and cultural safety programs and/or initiatives, strategies for enhancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in medicine.

  • Inter-professional: Examples include data and evidence-based innovative models of care, team-based care frameworks, implementation of more efficient communication practices between care teams and allied health care staff.

  • Socio-technical: Examples include simplifying and/or decreasing administrative work and documentation, digital health tools and their integration into physician workflow, improving practice efficiency through technology and innovation.

Relation to the main theme and/or sub-theme(s) will be taken into consideration during the evaluation and final selection process.

Submissions for all abstracts must be made electronically using the abstract submission form.
